We are currently working on a three part documentary series about the recent euro crisis. The series’ presenter is Rudi Vranckx, senior foreign correspondent in Belgium. He’ll be visiting Ireland, Iceland, Greece, Italy and Spain in the coming months. The programs will not simply focus on the negative impact of the crisis as we also wish to highlight how many Europeans are now coping with the aftermath and to reflect some of the emerging optimism regarding the future and possible ways out of the crisis itself. We always try to bring personal stories, not just dry analyses. In brief the series hopes to reflect a cross section of the actual situation in the countries that were hit most severely. The three one-hour documentaries will be broadcast in Spring 2013, only in Belgium. We will interview several ‘big players’ for these documentaries, policy makers, CEO’s etc. But also ordinary citizens who are affected the most by the crisis. In Greece we will focus on the structural problems that can lead a country towards financial and economic problems: bureaucracy, misgovernment, corruption, tax evasion etc. For one of our stories we would like to show the fakelaki problem in Greece.
